Culpeper Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Jan. 13
Kona Ice of Culpeper, Locust Grove, and Warrenton set a goal to raise $5,000 for local schools, youth sports, and nonprofit organizations for the past year. In 2021, the local, small woman-owned franchise raised and gave donation checks for more than $14,000 to community organizations and is quickly gearing up for spring youth sports leagues and school fundraising events.
“We like to showcase our giveback for a reason – as a reminder that we take FUNdraising very seriously for our local schools, youth sports, and nonprofits. Compared to big business, our numbers are a drop in the bucket, but we are a tiny (only one truck!) business with a big heart because of the love we receive from the community. Every individual truly can make a difference in our community, so we thank everyone for the generosity and for supporting us this past season.” says Kona Ice co-owner Maria Lischak.
A special outreach effort is underway to reach all the schools in Culpeper, Locust Grove, and Warrenton areas to help schools raise money through monthly “Kona Days”, which is a huge part of the millions of dollars Kona Ice franchisees give back to communities every year.
“Kona Ice is NOT your normal shaved ice. We’re known for our delicious and nutritious flavors, fun Kona Entertainment Vehicle (KEV) with cool lights and tropical tunes, and most of all our fundraising and bringing smiles to kids’ faces,” says Kona Ice co-owner Tania Terleckyj.
