Freshman pitcher Taylor Smith recently threw her first career no-hitter and solo shutout during the series-clinching win over NC State, contributing to Virginia’s total of eleven shutouts this season. Alex Call hit her first career grand slam during Saturday’s game against NC State—the second grand slam by a Cavalier player in 2026.
Macee Eaton now holds sole possession of second place on Virginia’s single-season RBI list with fifty-nine RBIs this year and has claimed both top spots after totaling sixty-three RBIs last year. Bella Cabral hit two home runs over the weekend, bringing her season total to thirteen and tying her for sixth all-time at Virginia with twenty-nine career home runs.
Jade Hylton added a leadoff home run Sunday, extending her career total to fifty-two home runs; she ranks third all-time at UVA in RBIs (149), while Eaton (138) is sixth and Cabral (116) is eighth.
Pitchers Courtney Layne and Eden Bigham each hold twelve wins this season, combining for twenty-four victories from the circle as Layne improved her record with two relief wins over NC State. As a team, Virginia has hit sixty home runs so far—second most in program history behind last year’s sixty-nine—and leads the ACC in several pitching categories including earned run average (3.06), fewest hits allowed per seven innings (5.85), WHIP (1.30), and strikeout-to-walk ratio (2.14). Freshman Jaiden Griffith ranks third in league standings as one of the toughest batters to strike out; junior Macee Eaton ranks sixth.
