Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) Vice President for Instruction and Student Services John Donnelly has been appointed to the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) Commission on Student Success. Dr. Donnelly’s appointment term is July 1, 2022 – June 30, 2025. The AACC is the primary advocacy organization for the nation’s community colleges. The association represents more than 1,000 two-year, associate degree-granting institutions and nearly 12 million students. Donnelly is one of only 20 individuals from all of the colleges that comprise the AACC selected to participate on this commission.

“PVCC is well recognized for its commitment to access with success for all students. John’s appointment provides the opportunity to contribute to student completion endeavors at the national level as well as influence our own efforts as a student-ready college,” stated PVCC President Jean Runyon.

Since 2010, Donnelly has served as vice president for instruction and student services at PVCC. Prior, he was Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs at Massachusetts Bay Community College, after spending seven years at Germanna Community College where he was Dean of Instruction and an associate professor of history.

“It is an honor to be selected to this Commission focused on student success. I look forward to working with colleagues across the country to improve student success outcomes for all community college students, especially our PVCC students,” Donnelly shared.

The Commission on Student Success focuses on student access, success and organizational transformation. Visit www.aacc.nche.edu/about-us/ to learn more about the American Association of Community Colleges.
