Albemarle County & Partners Seeking Community Input on Broadband Access Needs

33

Albemarle County issued the following announcement on July 20

Albemarle County is asking your help in identifying locations in the county that are underserved or unserved by broadband service. Households and businesses, please submit a short survey response through www.fireflyva.com/rise if your location:

  • only has access to satellite or cell phone internet service, or
  • does not reliably meet a threshold of 25 Mbps download and 3 Mbps upload from a fixed wireless or wired connection
Responses will help build a map of broadband service needs that the partners will use to make application for state funding in 2022.

This effort is being done in partnership with Dominion Energy Virginia, Firefly Fiber BroadbandSM, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Central Virginia Electric Cooperative, and Rappahannock Electric Cooperative (REC).
