Opening to serve on Architectural Review Board

17

Town of Scottsville issued the following announcement on Aug. 17

Interested in history, architecture, and public service in the Scottsville community?

Scottsville’s Architectural Review Board is taking applications from anyone interested in joining the board.

The board helps to preserve and interpret Scottsville’s history through the architecture of its buildings, both in the old historic district and in the entrance corridors to town. The five members, with help from Town staff, work closely with property owners to advise and regulate construction, renovation, and maintenance of our shared history of buildings.

The board meets once a month, at 7pm on the first Thursday of the month.

Membership on the board is very flexible to a mix of skills. Everyone is welcome, regardless of background. A diversity of viewpoints makes Town Council more effective! The only requirement is that a majority of members live in town, and we can accept in-town or out-of-town applicants at this time.

We are also making a special effort to recruit a licensed architect working in historic preservation, renovation, or a similar historically oriented practice. Your expertise is very welcome!

To be considered, send a letter of interest, and a professional resume if you have one, to town administrator Matt Lawless at mlawless@scottsville.org. Or drop off a letter at the Town Office during business hours.
