7

Piedmont Virginia Community College issued the following announcement on Oct. 13

The Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) Fine Arts and Performance division will hold a Documentary Filmmaking Workshop with local filmmaker Ty Cooper, Friday, October 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The workshop is free and will take place in the Main Stage Theatre in the V. Earl Dickinson Building on the PVCC main campus in Charlottesville. Masks/face coverings are required to be worn by all attendees.

Drawing on his experience as a novice filmmaker turned award-winning professional, Cooper will share techniques for everything from funding a project to gathering visual elements that support the narrative. Participants will gain familiarity with the host of new technologies that make filmmaking more accessible than ever and have the chance to experiment on site.

Ty Cooper has created a series of narrative shorts and documentary films that have won praise and awards at several film festivals. Current projects include “Amanda,” a recently completed film that was written, directed and produced by Cooper. He is also an entertainment promoter, writer and the Creative Director of Lifeview Marketing & Visuals.
