The Scottsville Town Council meets in Regular Session on the third Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. (on Tuesday if that Monday is a state holiday). All meetings are open to the public at 401 Valley Street in Scottsville, with ADA access at the Town Offices. The May 16 meeting includes several public hearings.

There is a public hearing for a zoning text amendment related to home-based businesses. The reform increases the maximum size of a Class B home occupation, from 1,500 to 2,500 square feet, and from two employees to four. Such businesses still require a special use permit in order to operate.

There is also a public hearing on the Town budget and tax rates. Town Council is considering a supplemental appropriation for the current fiscal year ending June 30. The total spending increases from $1,018,357 to $1,190,195. For the new fiscal year beginning July 1, the total spending is $1,198.038. Most of the Town’s tax rates are proposed to stay the same, but there are two tax increases proposed: a meals tax increase from 4.5% to 6.0% and a lodgings tax increase from 5% to 8%.

This meeting is open to the public. There are also options for the public to participate online or by phone:
