Planning Commission got some new details on the factory renovation project in Scottsville, and a public update is important, too. The meeting video is on our YouTube channel.
An investor team is making progress on a deal and may be able to propose a renovation later this year. Only a few qualified businesses do this work, and the photos show buildings around Virginia, renovated with help from historic tax credits. The factory in Scottsville fits this pattern. We can expect a mix of apartments and business spaces, like what’s in these examples.
Planning Commission took on the discussion of Planned Unit Development zoning more urgently yesterday, because that zoning tool will be needed for the factory renovation. We will assemble some focus groups and community outreach to inform our PUD regulations. This is an important project, and there will be a lot of community interest.
The next Planning Commission meeting on this subject is May 23 at 7pm. Join that meeting (online or in person) to learn more and share your thoughts!
