UVA Community Credit Union is pleased to announce the results of its election to the board of directors, which was conducted during its annual meeting on July 27, 2022. Incumbents Pamela W. Higgins, Rob Walker Freer, Lynn Richman Bell, and Rob Neil were elected as vice chair, secretary, and directors respectively. In addition, Cynthia Murray was appointed as a director by Credit Union members. Board members serve a two-year term.
“The Credit Union has been fortunate in the caliber of our board,” said Susan Gruber, President/CEO of UVA Community Credit Union. “The guidance and leadership that our board members provide has been instrumental in our achieving the financial strength and security that we have today.”
During its annual meeting, the Credit Union recounted its growth in 2021 by more than doubling its membership area, increasing in asset size, adding services, and expanding its infrastructure. But more importantly, the Credit Union walked step by step with members who needed its help by providing financial solutions to lower and reduce the cost of debt as a result of the uncertain times brought on by the pandemic. In addition, the Credit Union offered its business members financial solutions to help them succeed going forward.
“One of the ways we helped our members is through lending. Our low rates allowed members to Swap and Drop auto loans by refinancing higher rate loans taken out elsewhere. This helped members to save money and lower their monthly payments. We also assisted members in taking advantage of low mortgage rates by getting into a new home or refinancing an existing loan,” Gruber said. “Our Business Services team provided untiring support to local businesses that received Paycheck Protection Program assistance, while this Small Business Administration program came to a close.”
