2023-24 School Year Enrollment: 378 6th-grade students welcomed in Orange County schools

There were 378 6th-grade students enrolled in Orange County schools in the 2023-24 school year, 8.9% fewer than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

The school that enrolled the largest number of 6th-grade students in the county was Locust Grove Middle School.

Within Orange County schools, the largest number of students were found in 1st-grade, while pre-kindergarten had the least students.

Statewide, Orange County ranked 49th in enrollment numbers. It was ranked 50th the year before.

As of November 2023, according to Public Schools Review, Virginia public schools saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:14, which is better than the national average of 1:15 in public schools nationwide.
