1,671 students enrolled in Madison County schools in 2023-24 school year

There were 1,671 students enrolled in Madison County schools in the 2023-24 school year, 0.7% less than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

In terms of gender distribution, the student body in Madison County comprised 50.1% boys, with girls representing the remaining 49.9%.

Data also showed that white students made up 76.8% of the student body, the largest percentage in Madison County schools, followed by Black or African American students with 7.1%, 6.7% Hispanic students and 0.4% American Indian or Alaskan Native students.

Madison County High School had the highest enrollment among Madison County's four schools in the 2023-24 school year, welcoming 539 students.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools have an average student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1, slightly better than the national average of 15:1. Minority students, primarily Hispanic and Black, make up 54% of the enrollment, while white students constitute 46%.
