The Board of Directors at UVA Community Credit Union is pleased to announce the appointment of Susan M. Gruber as President and Chief Executive Officer of UVA Community Credit Union. Gruber joins UVA Community Credit Union from Patelco Credit Union based out of Dublin, CA where she served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the $9 billion organization since 2014. Her career also includes serving as SVP/CFO for Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union in Lowell, MA; VP Finance Officer for Bank of America in Boston, MA; and VP/Strategic Analysis for Brown & Company Securities Corp in Boston, MA.

“Overall, Susan brings us more than 30 years of experience as a collaborative leader who focuses on teamwork and member experience. She has a deep commitment to the mission driven nature of the Credit Union movement,” says Chairman of the Board Jeffrey C. Moscicki.

During her tenure with Patelco Credit Union, Gruber more than doubled the credit union’s asset size, and oversaw a $95 million new headquarters purchase and full rebuild.

Gruber has won numerous awards including the Most Influential Women of the Year in the San Francisco Business Times in 2020, CFO Trailblazer of the Year from Credit Union Times in 2017, and CFO of the Year from Credit Union National Association in 2016. She received her bachelor’s degree in Accounting from St. Joseph’s University and her MBA from Boston University.

In addition to her dedicated career in the financial industry, Gruber exemplifies the credit union spirit through actively participating in a variety of nonprofit services. She has been involved with CUFSLP Partnership, Habitat For Humanity, Children’s Miracle Network Fundraiser, been a chairperson for D’Youville Foundation, Lowell, MA, and board member for Girls Inc. of Lowell, MA and Lowell Day Nursery.

Gruber has relocated to Charlottesville, VA with her husband, Bob. They have three grown children.
