Virginia women’s basketball head coach Aaron Roussell announced on April 26 that Caterina Piatti will join the program for the 2026-27 season.
The addition of Piatti is expected to strengthen the team’s roster with her experience and skills. Roussell said, “Cat is a fantastic fit for us.”
Roussell also said, “Her size, hands and ability to finish are elite. With experience as a starter in the SEC and on the international stage, she will make an immediate impact on both ends of the court for our team.”
Piatti is a 6-foot-4 forward who played her freshman season at Florida. She started all 33 games for the Gators during the 2025-26 season and scored in double figures four times, including one double-double.
Before joining college basketball in the United States, Piatti played for Lupe San Martino and represented Italy internationally. She debuted with Italy at the FIBA U16 Women’s European Championship in 2022 and later appeared with Italy’s U18 and U20 teams. She helped Italy secure a bronze medal at the 2025 FIBA U20 Women’s EuroBasket Championships.
The Cavaliers expect Piatti’s arrival to bring both depth and international experience as they prepare for future seasons.
