Virginia will host the first and second rounds of both the NCAA Men’s and Women’s Tennis Championships for the sixth consecutive year, according to an April 27 announcement. The matches are scheduled from Friday, May 1 through Sunday, May 3 at the Virginia Tennis Facility at the Boar’s Head Resort in Charlottesville.

The men’s team, with a record of 22-4, received an at-large bid and was named the No. 4 overall seed. They are set to play Rider (12-6) on Friday at 3 p.m., following an opening match between Columbia (16-7) and St. John’s (17-6) at noon. The women’s team, holding a record of 21-5, also earned an at-large bid as the No. 7 seed among a field of 64 teams. Their first match will be against Saint Francis (13-7) on Saturday at 2 p.m., after Liberty (16-9) faces Washington (19-5) earlier that day.

Second round matches are planned for Saturday evening for men and Sunday afternoon for women. Admission to all matches is free.

This marks the Virginia men’s tennis program’s twenty-second consecutive appearance in the NCAA Championship and their twenty-first time hosting a regional event. The Cavaliers have previously won six NCAA titles in men’s tennis. For women’s tennis, this is their twenty-fifth overall appearance in championship play and eighth straight under head coach Sara O’Leary.

The sixteen teams advancing from these rounds will compete in super regionals on higher-seeded campuses scheduled for May 8 or May 9. As top-eight seeds, both Virginia teams could potentially host super regionals if they progress further; men would face winners from Columbia Regional while women would meet winners from Baton Rouge Regional.

Winners of each super regional advance to Georgia’s Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens where quarterfinals through championship matches take place from May 14–17.
