The University of Virginia’s Varsity Eight rowing team was named ACC Crew of the Week for the second time this season, according to an April 28 announcement. The recognition follows the team’s performance at the Lake Wheeler Invite held on April 24-25 in Raleigh, North Carolina.

This honor highlights the Varsity Eight’s undefeated run during the event, where they contributed to Virginia’s overall success with 14 wins out of 15 races. The crew secured victories over No. 15 Alabama and No. 14 Miami on April 24, recording times of 6:16.090 and 6:10.970 respectively. On April 25, they defeated No. 13 Duke with a time of 6:09.640, winning each race by eight seconds or more.

The Varsity Eight lineup included coxswain Brie Joe, stroke Paula Lutz, Skylar Morrison, Elsa Hartman, Flynn Green, PJ Balazy, Riley Richardson, Maddie Agudelo and bow Lila Henn.

Earlier in the season, Virginia’s Varsity Eight was also recognized as ACC Crew of the Week on March 31.

The Cavaliers are scheduled to return to Lake Wheeler for the ACC Championships on May 15-16.
