26 percent of applicants to the University of Virginia-Main Campus were admitted for fall 2018

At the University of Virginia-Main Campus, 96 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 55 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Charlottesville enrolled 24,639 students in fall 2018, including 16,777 in undergraduate and 7,862 in graduate programs, data shows. 4.2 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

64 percent of undergraduates are residents of Virginia, and 31 percent are residents of other states. 4 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (57 percent) and Asian (14 percent).

The school admitted 26 percent of the 37,182 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 39 percent enrolled.
