County of Madison recently issued the following announcement.

Joint Planning Commission & Board of Supervisors' Meeting

Calendar Date: Wednesday, September 1, 2021 - 7:00pm

Notice is hereby given that Madison County’s Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors will hold a joint public hearing at the Madison County Administrative Auditorium located at 414 N. Main Street, Madison, Virginia   on Wednesday, September 1st, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. to act on the following cases:

Case No. SU-09-21-10: Mr. William Robbins has applied for a special use permit to operate an automotive repair shop on an A1 (agriculture) zoned parcel. In the A1 zoning district an automotive repair shop is allowable by special use permit. The subject parcel is roughly 16.8 acres and contains a single-family dwelling. The automotive repair shop would operate from an existing accessory structure (detached garage). The parcel’s dwelling has a postal address of 1190 Seville Road, Madison, Virginia, and is identified on Madison County’s Tax Maps as 54-31.

Case No. SU-09-21-11:  Laura and Shawn Fields have applied for a special use permit to operate an automotive repair shop on an A1 (agriculture) zoned parcel. In the A1 zoning district an automotive repair shop is allowable by special use permit. The Fields’ own two adjoining parcels. The automotive repair shop would operate from an existing accessory structure (garage) located on a roughly 11.9 acre parcel; the adjoining 6.42 acre parcel is the location of their home and has a postal address of 379 Hurt Hollow Road, Banco, Virginia. The parcel proposed to be the location of the automotive repair shop does not contain a postal address point, but is identified on Madison County’s Tax Maps as 21-83c.

Case No. RZ-09-21-12: James Beall, Jean Beall and Springbrook Farm at Madison, LLC (Tina Weaver) have submitted an application to rezone roughly 91.89 acre “split zoned” A1 (agriculture) and B1 (general business) zoned parcel to M1 (limited industrial) with conditions. The applicants have submitted a proffer letter voluntarily eliminating all by-right M1 uses. If rezoned, the applicants have indicated subsequent applications would be submitted requesting a zoning text amendment and a special use permit in order to develop a solar farm (a.k.a. commercial solar energy facility),  on the subject parcel. These potential applications would also require public hearings. The subject parcel does not currently contain a postal address, but is located on S. Seminole Drive (Rt. 29) and adjoins “Yoder’s Country Market”. The parcel is identified on Madison County’s Tax Maps as 48-12C.

The public is invited to attend the hearing and comment. Written comments may be submitted prior to the meeting; written comments received prior to 1 p.m. on Friday, August 27th, 2021 will be placed into the official staff packet and distributed to the Planning Commission, Board of Supervisors and the public prior to the meeting.
