There were 138 7th-grade students enrolled in Madison County schools in the 2023-24 school year, 0.7% more than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

William H. Wetsel Middle School was the only school that welcomed 7th-grade students in the county.

Within Madison County schools, the largest number of students were found in 8th-grade, while pre-kindergarten had the least students.

Statewide, Madison County ranked 102nd in enrollment numbers. It was also ranked 102nd the year before.

As of November 2023, according to Public Schools Review, Virginia public schools saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:14, which is better than the national average of 1:15 in public schools nationwide.
