2023-24 School Year: How many students were enrolled in Greene County schools?

There were 2,818 students enrolled in Greene County schools in the 2023-24 school year, 0.7% less than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

In terms of gender distribution, the student body in Greene County comprised 51.8% boys, with girls representing the remaining 48.2%.

Data also showed that white students made up 67.7% of the student body, the largest percentage in Greene County schools, followed by Hispanic students with 14.6%, 6.7% Black or African American students and 1.5% Asian students.

William Monroe High School had the highest enrollment among Greene County's five schools in the 2023-24 school year, welcoming 979 students.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools have an average student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1, slightly better than the national average of 15:1. Minority students, primarily Hispanic and Black, make up 54% of the enrollment, while white students constitute 46%.
